Our Tale

Hello. Hola. Bonjour. Is anybody listening? We are Catherine and James, and this is our shared story, born from a shared admiration for the past, and the complex narratives that exist within the clothing we wear. Our story began, as all good stories do, with passion: a passion for history, for words, and for the beautiful clothing of fading eras (oh aye, and Gregg's Festive Bakes). 

Ever since she was a little lass, Catherine had a wonder for clothing that reminded you of fairytales. As she grew, that wonder blossomed into a profound appreciation for brands such as Laura Ashley and Gunne Sax. That love of the old became central to what we do: a carefully-pieced-together collection of vintage garments, chosen for both their remarkable beauty and their remarkable history. 

Catherine also dreamt of dresses she couldn't find. So she began to design her own, inspired by her own imagination and the wonderful artists she admired. Together, we followed this dream from England to India, where we now work with an incredible team of artists who are helping us bring Catherine's vision to life through the historical craft of block printing. 

We believe that every woman deserves to be draped in dresses and designs that are as rich in history as they are in beauty; their own beautiful, fabric story written just for them. And it is our wish to create a space for those who appreciate human craftsmanship, and who see that by preserving the magic of the past, we can create a more beautiful present, and future.
