Antique 1920s Black Cotton Ball Gown Dress with Pink Bow Front

An exceptionally beautiful and rare piece of evening wear from the 1920s, this ball gown glows with the character and the quality of the period. Adorned with an exquisite glitter dot pattern and composed from quality black cotton mesh, the dress has a gorgeous, though subtle, shimmer. It features two underlayer skirts (one mesh, one taffeta), and has been finished by a lovely pink contrast bow embellished with sequins and diamantes. An amazing emblem of elegance and a collector's dream.

Condition: Please be aware that this item is over a century old and shows its age. We have chosen to leave this piece completely unrestored so we can offer it at a more affordable project price. The primary areas needing love and restoration include:

• Side seams and fastening: there is a quite large opening along the left-side seam. any experienced restorer or seamstress will be able to fix it up nicely. The side fastening mechanism itself has also come loose and ripped, though it can be easily mended.
• Straps and bust interior: the left strap is currently loose at the back and needs to be re-pinned and secured. Additionally, some of the interior silk lining is splitting around the bust area underneath the mesh.
• Skirts and mesh: the outer mesh body shows a couple of very tiny, unnoticeable holes. The bottom taffeta under-skirt also has a couple of very small holes. We have photographed as many of these minor structural points as possible to ensure transparency.
