Details

Believed to be one of Jean Varon's earliest designs and used on the set of Midas Man, the film about Brian Epstein, manager of The Beatles, this dress comes in a gorgeous deep chocolate brown. It is made from alternating bands of netted lace and woven polka dots with a wide pointed collar and a lovely set of flower-shaped buttons, all finished with remarkable bell sleeves. The dress is fully lined and has metal side zips. Despite all its beautifully intricate details, she is remarkably easy to wear and style, looking particularly lovely with boots and a wide belt. A rare opportunity to own a piece of film and fashion history.

Condition

Good vintage condition with a few small points to note. The buttonholes are slightly worn and could be very easily reinforced with a few stitches. The original elastic has gone in the cuffs, though it could be reintroduced if preferred. There are also two tiny holes in one part of the lining. All have been photographed for clarity. The dress has been in storage and would benefit from a dry clean before wear.
