Vintage Rare 1970s BIBA White Cotton Dress

We are utterly elated to bring you this wonderful and very special work of art. This dress is a highly-collectible and documented dress by BIBA admirers, and an iconic, almost mystical BIBA piece, instilled with layers of beautiful work. These days, the word 'ethereal' gets flung around too lightly, but there is no better word to describe this vintage classic. After all, as the old saying goes: when the dress fits, it fits.

It is incredibly easy to see why this ethereal piece is so sought-after. The beautiful bat wings, accentuated by the bishop-type sleeves which float underneath, the delicate low rounded neck, the waist belt for a flattering fit, the gorgeous cream lace details that border the neck and cuff lines, all of these features come together perfectly in the fine, cheese cloth cotton, to create a nostalgic, whimsical dream of a dress.

Condition:

We are greatly attached to this dress. She has been a true labour of love, with hours - actually days - spent on lovingly restoring her original condition, stitch by stitch. Alongside that, she has been professionally cleaned and treated for moths, so she is all ready to start a new chapter.

There is a faint natural fabric line that occured in the manufacturing process . The only thing to note is she has some pulling to the back two seams which is always the case with this thin cotton, and there is some minor discolouration to the ties on one arm cuff, but this doesn't detract from the beauty. Overall, whilst she is in beautiful vintage condition, she is not perfect. But who is? Her patina serves to increases her character.
